The Institute of Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine has successfully implemented the methodology of saving these gastroschisis baby’s lives with the use of silicone silo bags. They have been doing it for ten years already. Currently they are in urgent need of at least 20 Silo bags per year.

Silo bags are preformed silicone bags that are used for children with gastroschisis (abdominal wall defect). Silo bags allow a postnatal retraction of emerged stomach and intestinal parts without surgery.
As a result of the use of these bags :
We are able to save costs, since an operation is unnecessary by the use of silo bags, there are no surgery costs.
We are able to reduce the risks for life, as treatment with silo bags is carried out without anesthesia and can be done immediately after birth.
Protection of the stomach and intestine from drying out and infections The silicone bag keeps stomach and intestinal parts moist. Silo bags prevent from heat loss which may arise through the emerged stomach and intestinal parts.
